Not sure which format to use?
MP4
- Plays on almost every phone, computer, browser and messaging app.
- The safe choice when you don't know where the video will be watched.
WebM
- Made for the web: small files that play in every modern browser.
- Embedding a video on a website.
MOV
- Apple's container, common on iPhones, Macs and in video editors.
- Editing in Final Cut, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
MKV
- A flexible container that can hold almost any video and audio.
- Archiving, and media players such as VLC.
New to converting videos?
MOV, MP4, WebM and MKV are containers — the box a video and its audio are packed into — not the compression itself. When the video inside already fits the new box, Convido simply re-packs it: nearly instant, and no quality is lost. When it doesn't (for example H.264 video going into WebM), Convido re-encodes it, which takes longer and is the only case where quality can change slightly.
